A MIDSUMMER NIGHT'S DREAM - Emmanuel College Gardens

"Every one of the cast in this lively presentation was strong, extracting the maximum from the characters they were playing. Particularly striking were the fairies: Danielle Allan's Titania was powerful, sinuous and sexy. The magical moment in this production came when Oberon and Titania twine themselves into the shape of an Indian deity with four arms and legs. Lovely."

WHAT DID YOU SAY? - touring

"This love story of the 90's traces the attempts of Mary (Danielle Allan) and Steve (Alan Davidson) to patch up their rapidly disintegrating relationship. They opt, or rather Mary decides, to see two marriage guidance counsellors. Each of the four actors obviously relishes their role, and the interaction between Allan and Davidson at times makes you feel like a voyeur - it's almost too personal. The combination of Richard Hawkins' brilliant one-liners, director Rupert Creed's use of a split set, the atmospheric music and the actors' assured confidence made for a night of entertainment infrequently seen in the theatre, ending on a rousing musical finale which had the capacity audience cheering and applauding."

THE GOD EXU - Baron's Court Theatre

"The visit of a government inspector to a Brazilian shanty town threatens the livelihood of the crooked shopkeeper Nequinho and his resourceful much put-upon wife Briguela (a tough comic performance by Danielle Allan). The god Exu is summoned. Director Ray Shell capitalises on the fable's broad comic potential, nowhere better than when the exultant Briguela tells of consummated lust amidst the tomatoes beneath the shop counter."

WHEN WE DEAD AWAKEN - Etcetera Theatre

"Set high in a mountain hotel, the play concerns Rubek, an ageing sculptor who has grown tired of his cheerful young wife Maya. Also staying at the hotel is Irene, a dark lady who was once Rubek's favourite model and muse, but who is now dead. Voluptuous, sophisticated and challenging, Irene charges Rubek with stealing her soul and urges him to take his life and join her in spiritual ecstasy. Danielle Allan's Irene combines poise, passion and dignity in a tidy performance."

THE GAME - Stalhouderij Theatre

"Perhaps sisters? Cell-mates? Concubines? Lovers? Or ego and alter-ego? Ana I and Ana II are inextricably bonded. Theirs is a love/hate existence of total dependency. Through role-playing the two live out a variety of situations. Amazingly, the results are often humorous and beautiful as one cruel game flows into another. The Stalhouderij production of THE GAME is a passionate, if not disturbing, experience - passionate, in that these two sensual actresses, Danielle Allan and Anat Geiger, both powerhouses of talent, throw themselves into the ugliness as well as the glory of Ana I and Ana II."
