Fluxx and Tellers Theatre Company, two dramatic (as opposed to comic) improvisation companies:-
Full-length improvised dramas: rooted in character and relationship work carried out in workshops, these dramas also incorporate political or social issues relevant at the time of performing (e.g. general election, extradition of Pinochet, animal rights, G8 summit in Genoa, etc.)
La Ronde Improvised: using the template of Schnitzler's play, A meets B, B meets C, C meets D etc. in a series of romantic/sexual encounters set in present day London. The audience picks names out of a hat to determine which characters will meet on the night.
Trickster: a Narrator begins to tell a story inspired by a theme from audience suggestions; as the story unfolds, the actors cast themselves in any roles that the story requires - neither the narrator nor the actors know what will happen next until it happens... Further spice is added by the Trickster, who may hand a prop (a letter, a telephone, a plastic dinosaur) to any actor at any time. It is then for the actor(s) and the Narrator to incorporate that prop within the drama to advance the story.
Tellers has toured Prisons, Convents and Community venues over the last seven years. The company's speciality is Bear Pit Improvisation, completely improvised five scene dramas inspired from audience suggestions.
